My own physics are arguably more realistic.but potentially unplayable on anything but dedicated gaming computers right now, and that's far from ideal. ZP's Mac version is really quite nice - and I like their skillshot mechanic that allows me to keep my hands on the keyboard.Īs a programmer working on my own pinball sim, I can't be overly critical of either game's physics model - especially since they run on mobile devices. I actually like their more "reasonable" tables the most, such as Tesla and Sorcerer's Lair, although the latter has too many ball savers and lasts WAAAY too long. I also feel that Zen Pinball tries too hard to add crazy fantasy bells and whistles to their oversized tables and end up with ssy and confusing.

PS3 version feels good, though the load times are a bit long. I very much dislike their Mac version though, especially having to use the mouse to skillshot. I don't care that much about restorations of existing games from a nostalgia point of view - but I do like that Pinball Arcade gets to cherry-pick from a huge pool of tables with proven, fun gameplay. As usual, Zen Pinball 2 is a free platform that offers a try before you buy model for each table, and an import process for players who own any tables from PlayStation 3 and/or PlayStation. No button inputs work, and the background image is static.

One is more of a game, the other more of a simulation. Only other issue I've had (lets call this one a bug report), and this has happened a couple of times - when I quit by holding the PS button and select the 'Close Application' option, press OK on ZEN Pinball, The PS4 goes back to the home screen but is completely unresponsive. Honestly though, to answer the question at hand: the two games are really not comparable, because Pinball Arcade will never be able to cross the boundaries of a physical table, while Zen Pinball exploits this quite often. I love both of them a lot on the 360, it is a great platform for these games, but really enjoy the portability of them on my laptop. Join Ellen Ripley as she confronts the Alien Queen and helps the Colonial Marines eliminate LV-426s alien infestation on the Aliens Pinball table.

Summary: Survive Xenomorph encounters in three thrilling pinball tables inspired by the ALIEN franchise. Even with these annoyances, it is extremely enjoyable to play. Mixed or average reviews based on 11 Ratings. I'll admit I have an onboard graphics card, but the game runs smoothly, it just is not timed exactly right.Īlso, I switched to OSX because the tables were coming out far too slowly on the 360 platform. I feel it wouldn't be too hard to program in, and I don't think it would make the Leaderboards unfair. I've gotten used to it, but I wish there was a video delay, something like VLC has.

But it's kind of annoying on my Macbook Pro because there is a tiny bit of lag, between my inputs and the display, that makes some shots extremely dangerous to attempt. Pinball Arcade on both 360 and OSX.įirstly, I do play Pinball Arcade much more, solely for the real tables.
